1,000 Books Before Kindergarten

Kickstart your child’s love for reading with the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program! This engaging initiative encourages parents and caregivers to read 1,000 books with their young children before they enter kindergarten. It’s a fantastic way to build early literacy skills, foster a love for books, and create cherished bonding moments.

How It Works:

  • Read Together: Choose books that captivate and interest your child. Any book counts, whether it’s a library book, a favorite story, or a picture book.

  • Track Progress: Keep a record of the books you read. Our libraries offer tracking sheets or apps to help you monitor your progress.

  • Celebrate Milestones: Reach milestones along the way and celebrate with your child. We offer a graduation photo when the 1,000 book goal is reached, and a prize every 100 books read.

Benefits:

  • Early Literacy: Boosts vocabulary, comprehension, and listening skills.

  • Bonding Time: Provides quality time for parents and children.

  • Love for Reading: Encourages a lifelong passion for books and learning.

Visit your local library to join the program and get started on this exciting reading adventure!
